All laser devices have to be classified according to their risk to the human eye. The FARO Laser Scanner LS is classified as 3R. To enable the user to evaluate the actual risk, the software to control the scanner shows the actual valid eye-safety distance. This depends on the resolution settings chosen by the user. Other laser scanner vendors do not supply this information to their users. To provide a sufficient understanding of the meaning of the different laser classes, this document collides some general information, valid for all kind of laser devices.
